Red mite control
Fly control with predatory mites
One of our organic control methods for controlling flies is the use of predatory mites. The predatory mite, Macrocheles robustulus, is used to eating the eggs of the fly and young larvae. The stable flies lay eggs in warm, moist and nutrient-rich places, such as in manure and in feed residues. Within a few hours, small white maggots hatch here and after a while they become flies.
Predatory mites function perfectly in dry moist manure and in places where straw is used. The predatory mite of APC lives naturally in various types of soil, manure and compost and lives in the top layer of the soil, between 2 and 40 mm deep. The mite can survive without prey for 2 to 4 weeks and has a life cycle of about 12 days.
How the predatory mite works
In the case of fly control with predatory mites, it is important to sprinkle the contents of the tube with predatory mites in places where the flies like to lay eggs. These spots can often be found along the wall, under the feed buckets, under the water bowls and in the manure. Do not spread the predatory mites in places where animals can trample the predatory mites. It is advisable to spread the predatory mites every three meters. In most cases, spreading mites 1 to 3 per season is sufficient.
